Understanding PDF Passwords:
- User Password (Open Password): This password is required to open and view the PDF. If your PDF has one, you must provide it for this tool to work. This tool cannot guess or remove an unknown user password.
- Owner Password (Permissions Password): This password restricts actions like printing, copying content, editing, etc., but usually allows opening the PDF without a password. This tool attempts to remove these restrictions. If a user password is also set and provided, the owner password restrictions will also be removed.
If the tool reports "PDF is not encrypted," it means your PDF had no password protections or restrictions to begin with. A copy will still be provided.

Can this tool remove a password I don't know?
No. If the PDF requires a password to open (a user password), you must provide it. This tool is not for cracking or bypassing unknown open passwords. It can, however, often remove owner (permissions) passwords if the file can be opened.
What happens if I provide the wrong password?
The tool will report an error indicating the password was incorrect or that authentication failed.
What if my PDF wasn't encrypted or restricted?
The tool will inform you that the PDF was not encrypted. It will still process the file and provide you with a copy, which will be identical to the original in terms of protection.
Will this change the content of my PDF?
No, this tool only attempts to modify the security settings of the PDF. The visible content (text, images, layout) should remain unchanged.
Is my uploaded PDF file stored permanently?
No. Your PDF file is uploaded to the server temporarily for processing. Once the operation is complete and you've downloaded your file (or if an error occurs, or you navigate away), the associated job files are scheduled for cleanup and typically removed shortly thereafter.
What's the maximum file size I can upload?
The maximum effective file size is 200 MB. This is determined by the server's configuration.
What technology is used for unlocking?
This web tool uses PHP for the user interface and server-side management. The actual PDF unlocking is performed by a Python script leveraging the powerful PyMuPDF (Fitz) library by attempting to re-save the PDF without encryption.
